A Letter From Uganda: Update on Kakindo

20161003_112520first-drink-of-clean-waterA few weeks ago,  Herbert Asiimwe, CEED/Ugandan Gold Coffee’s General Manager of Ugandan Operations, sent us an email updating the Ugandan Gold Coffee organization on the results of our drilling team’s efforts at drilling a well in Kakindo. Here is what he sent us:

Hello,

Mukama asimwe!   (Means “Praise the Lord” in Runyoro, the local language).

We have another well finished today.

The Kakindo community have an excellent new borehole in their village.  The people are so happy for the borehole. (See pictures.)

installing-pipesThis new borehole will serve more than 1200 students and pupils from the 3 neighboring schools plus the community of about 100 households, including the Moslem congregation with their mosque neighboring the new borehole.

The borehole is 140 ft hole with 80 ft of water and with very good recovery rate.

We have installed 100 ft pipes in this well and the water is very clean right from the beginning.

The community has elected a water source committee with Fred being the chairperson of the new well.

(Many thanks to the Connoquenessing Valley Elementary PTO and Grace Church of Harmony, PA for funding this well under the leadership of one elementary student who wishes to remain anonymous!)

thanks-be-to-god
